PinoySG Warfreakz clutches a Silver Medal in Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit 2008 Division 4
They came, they saw, they conquered…….is the best quote that describes the adventures of PSG Warfreakz paintball team who captured the 1st Runner Up Silver Medal during the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit 2008 Final Leg last October 25 and 26, 2008 held at Dataran Bandaraya, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Just recently, the team was crowned as the Overall Champion of the Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 Competition last October 12, 2008. As Singapore champions, the team was awarded a free registration to Malaysia Paintball Official Circuit 2008 Final Leg Division 4 Competition and a free 2 boxes of paintballs for their ammunition.
Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) Series is the most prestigious and biggest league of paintball players in Malaysia. It has the highest participation of paintball teams from all over Malaysia and is widely covered by local media both in TV and print.
PSG Warfreakz start off with a very poor performance as our 5 man team were quickly shot down by a more experienced Malaysian paintball players on our first two games. It was a new field layout for us, where two Dorito (a triangular shaped bunker) connected by a lumber bunker, provides a good position for offensive attack. It took some time before we were able to adjust on the field and to slow down our offensive allowing a smoother opponent cleanup on the opposite field. The change of strategy from a kamikaze attack to a more calculated SWAT style proves to be very effective as the team won the remaining elimination games. The SWAT strategy is a bunker positioning where all the players push up the attack from bunker to bunker based on the number of kills during the shootout. It was not a rehearse game plan, since we have not practiced it yet as a 5 man team, although we already applied it during one of our games in 3 man competition. PSG Warfreakz finished the Day 1 elimination with a record of 6 wins and 3 loss and ranking number 1 among all the Division 4 teams.
Highlights during the MPOC 2008 Awarding includes with PSG Warfreakz being interviewed by a local Malaysian newspaper “The Star” as represented by our team captain Marcus Tito Babao.
The Deception Play
A spectacular performance during the game also catches the attention of both players and audience when PSG Warfreakz did a
deception play where 3 warfreakz fight it off against 3 players from Team Damnation (Singapore). Players Kristian (Speed) and Herbert (hcgan) were already out of ammo, and were hiding behind the bunker leaving only Marcus (Nabelrock) with a remaining one pod (plastic tube container) of ammo behind his harness. After a quick discussion, Herbert did a quick U turn behind while Kristian (Speed) rushes to Herbert (hcgan) location in a quick synchronized movement. Kristian (Speed) attacks the left side bunker with an empty hopper providing a distraction while Herbert (hcgan) and Marcus were sharing their ammo at the same moment. The game ended with Herbert bunkering the last two players from Team Damnation on the right side. Bunkering is the term used when a player shots down an opponent in a very close range after rushing forward to his position.
Participating Singaporean Teams
4 Singapore teams also participated in the MPOC represented by Red Seven and Team Exa in Division 3, Team Damnation and Red Dynasty in Division 4. Only Red Dynasty was able to qualify in the quarterfinals winning the 4th place after they were beaten by Team JS of Malaysia. Red Dynasty was beaten by PSG Warfreakz during the elimination round.

PSG Warfreakz made its presence felt during the awarding which was held at Sunset Boulevard at THE ZON in Johor Bahru, as different teams from Malaysia congratulate them for their explosive performance during MPOC in the likes of Johor Pirates (Division 3 Series Champion), D’Mercy Kidz (Division 3 Leg Champion), Sogo Ballbusters (All female Division 2 Team) and Demonz Red (Division 1 Champion). Division 4 Champion Team Lanun Selatan also thanked PSG Warfreakz for giving them a good fight during the Finals. Mr Allan Pang, the main organizer of MPOC2008 was also there to congratulate us personally for our good performance during the MPOC 2008 Final Leg.
