The long wait is over….PinoySG now has an official women’s volleyball team and the first challenge is the “17th FAS CUP” FAS Annual Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2008…Introduced at the opening as the “pinakasikat na sikat na PinoySG”, we indeed come as a well-respected and most promising rookie team. Joining FAS (Filipino Association of Singapore) is a milestone for the women’s team. This year’s team comprise of 14 talented professional ladies passionate about volleyball.
The tournament which opened last Sunday, September 21, 2008, will run until next year. Target completion is on March 2009 but subject to court booking availability. Playing dates are scheduled every Sunday of the month and game times from 11:00am to 4:00pm. No official schedule has been released yet but during the draw, we will go up against Aklanon Team for the first game. Game schedule to be announced.
9 teams will compete in the volleyball division. Elimination round is on a double round robin system, after which the top 2 teams will advance to the championship round. The top 2 teams in the elimination round will play a knockout game in 5 sets to determine the champion.
{mosgoogle left}Unfortunately, FAS does not include men’s volleyball in the tournament….but that could soon change.
For those who are interested to join next year’s team, please do join us in our fun games so you’ll get to meet everyone and get the chance to have fun playing your favorite sport.
