PSG Warfreakz Paintball Team bags 3 Gold Championship Medals in a row

Filed under: Group Activities — admin @ 12:00 am

Nothing has changed…..the same NO FEAR tactics that brought the team one Silver Medal, one Gold Medal, and a trophy last time has guided the team again to capture not Silver, but three Gold Medals from 3 different paintball tournament series held in Singapore and Malaysia.

PinoySG Warfreakz SPNS 2 Champion

{mosgoogle left}After a long, thrilling and exciting Championship Finals against Red Shadows during the 2nd leg Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 last June 22, 2008, “Speed” ended it with a snap shot behind the temple bunker after frog leaping from different bunkers, to eliminate the opponent and win the championship medal for the PSG Warfreakz Alpha. The leap frog movement lasted for 5 minutes that almost ended in a TIME OVER if not for the last shot of Speed who that time has only 4 pieces of paintball left on his gun marker.

The 2nd leg of Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 witnessed also the birth of the first all female Pinay paintball team in Singapore – PSG Warfreakz Charlie. The team who has been popular even before the tournament started, was anticipated by the local teams to be weaker and was proven wrong. Together with PSG Warfreakz Bravo, the third all male team, both has reached the quarter finals after beating the rest of the teams in the elimination round.

PSG Warfreakz Charlie was composed of Athena (team leader), Chel, Kitkatz, Sweetsleen and the feared diminutive lady, Bertha.

PSG Warfreakz Bravo was composed of Archers, NaughtyIan, Ipoy, Wakoko and Franiboy. Both teams display the same NO FEAR tactics that wiped out the opponent on their games.

The 2nd leg of Johor Paintball League 2008 last June 29, 2008, in which PSG Warfreakz was the defending champion ended also with a whooping, forward rush attack of “Exhopek” who single handedly eliminate the last remaining man of MyBroTeam from Malaysia. Again, the team went home clutching a Gold medal in their hands and breaking the news of their win to all the members. In spite of the absence of “Speed” who was overseas that time, the quick runner “Franiboy” has helped a lot on “Exhopek”, “Blade” and “Nabelrock” in defending their championship crown.

Jus recently, after a long day of battle at 3rd leg Southern Extreme Sunday Match last July 27, 2008. PSG Warfreakz who struggled and fought against the best bunker players of Johor Bahru Malaysia, successfully captured the Championship Medal. This time the game with MyBroTeam ended without a lone hero from the side of PSG Warfreakz. The last game was played with the three fighters Speed, Nabelrock and Blade aggressively pushing down the opponent in the end of the field. The last man was eliminated as the three fighters stood up smiling, tired and yet on high spirit after winning the most difficult tournament so far in their 7 months of paintball career.

Last month, UNTV, a cable TV channel in Philippines, interviewed the PSG Warfreakz players who participated in the 2nd leg Singapore Paintball Novice Series. The team and Nabelrock (Marcus Tito Babao) was also mentioned in the Sports section of Strait Times for winning the championship.

Speed and Bertha, both PSG Warfreakz players, enjoyed a split second of fame behind their mask when their game was shown by Channel News Asia on its evening news.

Lately, the United Paintballers of Phillipines recognized the group and declared the PSG Warfreakz as an honorary member. Appreciation and encouragement were sent including from Team Global Gutz Philippines who were the Div 2 Paintball Asian Champion last year.

The month that passed has been great for all the members of PSG Warfreakz, where every win by its prized team were always dedicated to all its loyal members.

Here are some excerpts from the blogs which mentioned PSG Warfreakz

The Filipinos have the speed, the courage, and the amazing teamwork that won them the champion title. Especially in the finals, when the game became a one vs one with two members knock out on both sides, it was very obvious that Warfreakz was putting the pressure on Red Shadows. Red Shadows was reacting to the movements by Warfreakz, having to chase a changing target. Warfreakz on the other hand, moved from bunker to bunker, but his aim was always on the dorito.

The introduction of PSG Charlie, an all female team from the Philippines, has certainly raised the public’s eyebrow on their misconception of the paintball being a male dominant sport.

July 17, 2008, the Registry of Society granted the approval of the application of PinoySG Badminton Club as a legal non profit registered society here in Singapore with ROS reference number 2078/2008.

A history in the making, as it’s the first Filipino Badminton Club granted such recognition by the Singapore government.

The preparation of documents and processing began almost 3 months ago which was spearheaded by the committee under Cristina Molinyawe and Elma Sarmiento. A painstaking job indeed, but the efforts and the cooperation of everyone have made it happen. After, a long wait…a great sigh of relief as the letter of approval was handed to us for the first time.

Why we need to register?

Any organization which is composed of more than 10 members and meets regularly for an activity and collects membership fees and run the organization with a revolving fund needs to be registered. It is unlawful for any organization under the Societies Act of Singapore to collect membership/subscription fee for the purpose of organizing an activity or any event.

What are the benefits of being a registered society?

It allows us to host and organize badminton events legally and to collect membership/participation fee under the authorization of Singapore Government. We are also qualified to apply as member of the Singapore Badminton Association.

As a member of Singapore Badminton Association, we will be first priority when it comes to advance court bookings, participates on any SBA Badminton Tournaments. This is our opportunity to field our best Filipino badminton players against other Singapore badminton teams.

This privilege will also apply to all Filipino badminton teams and groups who are affiliates of PinoySG Badminton club as long they abide under the laws and regulations of the club.

{mosgoogle left}As a first Singapore registered Filipino Badminton Club, we are duly recognized by the Philippine embassy as an organization and will be supported by Filipino community of Singapore.

Recently, the club has successfully finished its PSG Badminton Intercolor Tournament which participated by almost 100 members of the club. The tournament was duly supported by PinoySG.com and WESTERN UNION.

Western Union came to give freebies and CD’s to all the participants and players during the tournament.
To all those existing badminton teams who wish to affiliate themselves with the club in order for them to exist legally; you may contact Gary Cristobal for the details.
