Filipino Tennis Club

Filed under: Group Activities — admin @ 12:00 am
The Filipino Tennis Club (Singapore) was formed in March 1997 with the following objectives:
* To promote tennis among its members
* To promote teamwork and create rapport and camaraderie among its members
* To develop tennis players to represent the Society in any tournaments in Singapore
The FTC (Singapore) is run by a Management Committee duly elected during the Annual General Meeting held every January. Membership is open to all ordinary members (Filipinos in Singapore, above 18 years old) and associate members who do not qualify for ordinary membership. Honorary membership can also be conferred on persons who have rendered valuable service to the club. The FTC has been an active participant in all Singapore Tennis Association (STA) sanctioned tennis events and inter-club tournaments.
Every year, the FTC has the following activities: 2-3 major tournaments (Singles in March-April; Doubles and/or Singles in July-Aug and the main tournament for both Doubles/Singles in October-November); tennis clinics for kids and adults; friendly matches against other clubs in Singapore; and, other social gatherings, in particular the much-anticipated AD&D (usually held the first Saturday of December) where FTC members will showcase their talents in songs and dances.

There are different levels of play for both ladies and men’s class. Members normally play on Saturdays at Farrer Tennis Courts from 6 – 9pm, and thereafter, ’salo-salo’, ‘kainan’, tsika-tsika at one of the kopitiams for more camaraderie.
